- Dead Stock Report
- As an overview, dead stock reports are individual reports created by the dead stock manager when an eligible product in a warehouse becomes inactive. Dead stock reports are created by product by warehouse. Eligible products include products that have a detailed_type of "product" or "consu", and do NOT have a bill of materials. The "status" of a dead stock report, such as whether that product in that warehouse isactive, one_year_inactive, etc, is calculated by using the field last_sold_move_date. This field is the date of the last time the product was moved/sold. Calculations are made from this time. Thus, if a productin a warehouse has its last_sold_move_date less than a year ago (relative to today), it is considered active. Once a year has passed, it becomes one_year_inactive, and so on, up to five_years_inactive. Thisis calculated via compute_status. It is worth noting that creating a dead_stock_report on its own is difficult, as it must be linked to themanager as well as the product itself. This can be done via the dsr_crud_testing.py file in _tools, where the process is laid out. When testing, it is significantly easier to make a new product, then ensure a dsr is created properly.Finally, whenever a dead stock report changes status (such as from one_year_inactive to two_years_inactive),a dead_stock_report_review is created. This review contains details that must be reviewed by an employee, such as WHY the product has not been active, the condition of the product, etc. In this manner, a productwill have multiple dead stock reports (one for each warehouse), and those dead stock reports will have many reviews as time passes (as the status continues to update, which in turn creates a review automatically.)There are two crons for this module. The first one was run once - DATA MIGRATION - and is creates all of the necessary dead stock reports for each product for each warehouse. This does not need to be run again. The secondcron is COMPUTE TARGET DATES, which should run every twelve hours, and ensures that the target date fields are always up to date when the statuses are computed. This allows dead stock reports to automatically change their statuses when dates pass, which in turn creates dead stock report reviews.
